Penicillin類抗生素前敏感性測試(Penicillin test Solution)， 避免產生不必要之副作用
一般Penicillin test results :
陽性(+)時, 而患者先前有Penicillin過敏史, 則50-70%會發生過敏反應
陽性(+)時, 而患者先前沒有Penicillin過敏史,則10 %會發生過敏反應
陰性(-)時, 而患者先前有Penicillin過敏史, 則1-3%有輕重不等的過敏
陰性(-)時, 而患者先前沒有Penicillin過敏史, 則95%以上無即發性過敏反應
由於抗生素有非常多種類，依化學結構及藥理活性是來分類分別有penicillins、cephalosporins、monobactams、carbapenems、glycopeptides、aminoglycosides、fluoroquinolones、protein syntesis inhibitors、folate inhibitors、miscellaneous等。
所以假如針對需使用Penicillin G的抗生素則Penicillin skin test則較據臨床意義(因為test solution是Penicillin G的稀釋液)，其它類抗生素就不需要作Penicillin skin test。
